Sand pumping real disaster, says Joel.
Gold Coast surfing superstar Joel Parkinson has warned the opening World Championship Tour event of the year is in danger of flopping because of the Tweed River sand bypass project.
Just days before the Quiksilver Pro is set kick off at Snapper Rocks next week, Parkinson said the bypass project had pumped too much sand into the Coolangatta area over recent months and as a result has seriously damaged some of the best waves in the world.
