Not everyone feels like escaping Melbourne winters for the sunny climes of Queensland for at least part of the year, but it is undeniable that the Gold Coast has become the apartment "Mecca" of Australia.
As beachfront homes average $10-$15 million (once a sale price that would have made the front page of the local papers) with no signs of slowing development sites are becoming increasingly rare and developers are struggling to cater to a market that continually clamours for closer and closer proximity to the water.
