Kirra beach reclaims surf
The Gold Coast City Council has begun works to reduce the long stretch of sand at Kirra beach.
The $400,000 project aims to reduce the beach width at Kirra and create a shorter walk to the water, retain sand to protect against storm erosion, increase parklands, and improve the surf.
The beach access stairs have been removed to make way for earth-moving machines to relocate 20,000cu m of sand off the beach.
