First step for beach walkway

Rotting timber stairways and grubby beach access points at Kirra were ripped down yesterday as the council started work on a new foreshore project.

The rejuvenation is expected to transform Kirra into a budding rival to California's Venice Beach, with plans to extend the boardwalk facelift across the border.
