It's amazing the difference 458 metres of asphalt can make.

But the length of tar and gravel is going to make a world of difference to life and business for a great many people on the Tweed and the Gold Coast from next month.

Yesterday Deputy Prime Minister Mark Vaile opened the Gold Coast Airport runway extension. It is now 2500 metres compared to its previous length of 2042 metres.
